The Tarn Taran bypoll saw sharp twists as the early count gave the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) a brief advantage. SAD’s Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa led in the first three rounds and created hope in the Opposition camp. The mood shifted quickly once the fourth round began.
AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu gained momentum and kept climbing with every round. His lead grew steadily and reflected clear voter consolidation. By the middle of the count, Sandhu had taken full control of the contest. The gap widened further and ended in a strong five-figure victory.
AAP workers celebrated as the final numbers came in. They called the result proof of public trust in the party’s governance and development push. For SAD, the early edge turned into a major loss. The result also offered AAP a boost ahead of future electoral battles.
Waris Punjab De candidate Mandeep Singh secured 19,620 votes and saved his deposit. The Congress candidate received only 15,078 votes and lost ground. The BJP managed 6,239 votes despite heavy campaigning by its top leaders.
