The Telangana government has opened applications for new liquor shops in the state, following a notification issued yesterday. Applications will be accepted starting today and will continue until October 18. The allotment of shops will be done through a lottery system on October 23.

Each applicant is required to pay a tender fee of Rs. 3 lakh. Officials estimate that the process could generate up to Rs. 400 crore in revenue for the state. The successful applicants will be granted licenses valid from December 1, 2025, to November 2027, providing a three-year operational window for the shops.

This initiative is part of the state’s efforts to streamline liquor distribution while boosting revenue. Authorities have emphasized transparency in the allotment process, ensuring fair participation and selection. The move is expected to attract significant interest from entrepreneurs and investors across Telangana.
