Telangana CM Announces Commission to Review District and Mandal Structure
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the formation of a Commission to study the reorganisation of districts and mandals in the State. The move aims to assess administrative efficiency, governance, and service delivery, with a view to optimising the structure of local administrative units.
The CM stated that the Commission will be headed by a retired Supreme Court or High Court judge and will be appointed shortly. It will examine factors such as population distribution, geographical considerations, accessibility of administrative offices, and public convenience to recommend whether restructuring is required.
Officials said the initiative is part of the government’s broader focus on improving governance, decentralisation, and responsive administration. Public representatives, bureaucrats, and experts are expected to provide inputs during the Commission’s study. The CM emphasised that the process will be thorough, evidence-based, and aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency while ensuring equitable development across the State. Recommendations from the Commission are likely to shape Telangana’s administrative landscape in the coming years.
