Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha conducted a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat to assess the performance of government hospitals and the state’s preparedness to control seasonal diseases. Senior health officials briefed the minister that this year Telangana recorded 2,900 dengue, 209 malaria, 4,600 typhoid, and 249 chikungunya cases — showing a notable decline compared to previous years.

The minister emphasized the importance of public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about preventive measures amid changing weather conditions that increase the risk of vector-borne and water-borne diseases.

He instructed health officials to strengthen sanitation drives, ensure adequate availability of medicines, and maintain strict disease surveillance systems across urban and rural areas. The minister also directed district health officers to coordinate with local bodies to prevent mosquito breeding and safeguard public health.
