Counting of votes in the Telangana municipal elections began on February 13, 2026, after polling on February 11 saw a final voter turnout of about 73.01 percent, the State Election Commission said.
Early trends show the Indian National Congress leading in many wards across the 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations. The party is ahead of the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with Congress candidates winning and leading in large numbers of wards so far.
Some results have already been declared, showing a strong performance by Congress, while counting continues in others. Leaders and workers of Congress have started celebrating their early gains, hoping for a major win once all results are final.
The final outcome will shape urban local governance across the state.
