Sports Minister Azharuddin said Telangana has produced several international athletes. He noted that training grounds play a vital role in sports development. Additionally, he mentioned that the government is now encouraging football along with other sports. The comments came during a panel discussion on “Olympic Gold Quest” held on the second day of the Telangana Rising Global Summit. Several sports icons, including Anil Kumble, Pullela Gopichand, PV Sindhu, Ambati Rayudu and Jwala Gutta, joined the session.
During the discussion, Azharuddin praised Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and Jwala Gutta for bringing global recognition. Moreover, he stressed that athletes should grow without financial pressure. He said the sports policy offers multiple benefits for young talent. He also highlighted the need for financial support and stable job opportunities in the sports sector.
Meanwhile, PV Sindhu said many factors guide athletes toward success. She emphasized the role of strong infrastructure and skilled coaches. Furthermore, she noted that encouragement at every stage builds confidence. She added that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s support promises a bright future for Telangana athletes.
Later, Gopichand praised Hyderabad as one of India’s leading sports cities. He called CM Revanth Reddy’s Vision 2047 a remarkable initiative. Moreover, he said the announcement of sports cities, sports universities and sports hubs reflects a strong commitment. Therefore, he expressed confidence in Telangana’s sports growth and felt honored to join the summit.
