In a surprising revelation, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has shed light on the unusual events following India’s victory in the Asia Cup 2025 final. Despite a commanding win over Pakistan, the Indian team did not receive the trophy, triggering a wave of speculation and online debate.

According to Suryakumar, the team made a collective decision not to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief, who is also a political figure in Pakistan. The Indian team reportedly objected to his presence due to his political affiliations.

He clarified that neither the Indian government nor the BCCI instructed them to take this stand. The decision was made on the spot by the players, based on the situation that unfolded during the post-match ceremony.

“No one from the government or the BCCI said anything to us during the tournament. We made that call on our own,” he added.

Suryakumar described the scene, saying the players were present on the field while ACC officials appeared to be in discussion on the stage. As the crowd began to boo, one official was seen removing the trophy and walking away, effectively ending the presentation ceremony.

A video later surfaced on social media showing an ACC representative leaving the stage with the trophy, adding fuel to the controversy. Critics and fans alike questioned the role of politics in cricket and accused the ACC of mishandling the situation.

Despite claims from some Pakistani cricket officials that the move was pre-planned by India, Suryakumar dismissed these allegations, reiterating that the players acted independently.
