As the Bihar Election 2025 heats up, rebellion and resentment dominate Bhagalpur division. Six sitting MLAs have been denied tickets across the seven Bhagalpur and five Banka constituencies, triggering defections and chaos within alliances.
In Kahalgaon and Sultanganj, both RJD and Congress have fielded official candidates, defying coalition norms. JDU’s Shubhanand Mukesh faces tough competition in Kahalgaon from RJD’s Rajneesh Bharti and Congress’s Praveen Kushwaha. Independent rebels like Pawan Yadav and Anuj Mandal have further complicated the race.
In Bhagalpur, Congress MLA Ajit Sharma faces BJP’s Rohit Pandey again, with Jan Suraj’s Abhaykant Jha expected to split votes. Sharma banks on full Muslim support, while both major parties chase sympathy votes in the southern belt.
In Gopalpur, rebel JDU MLA Gopal Mandal runs as an independent against JDU’s Bulo Mandal and VIP’s Prem Sagar Yadav, creating a triangular fight.
The Pirpainti seat also sees turmoil after outgoing MLA Lallan Paswan switched to RJD. Multiple candidates from smaller parties threaten to cut into the main vote shares.
Across Bhagalpur, shifting loyalties and rebel candidates have turned traditional alliances into unpredictable battlegrounds.
