Tripura CM Manik Saha paying tribute to late Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen

Biswa Bandhu Sen tribute was paid by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday as he remembered the late Assembly Speaker for his neutrality, discipline, and commitment to public service. Speaking at a condolence meeting in Agartala, the Chief Minister said Sen’s contribution to Tripura’s legislative system would be remembered for years to come.

CM Saha said Biswa Bandhu Sen always upheld democratic values and conducted Assembly proceedings with fairness and dignity. He noted that Sen earned respect across party lines due to his calm temperament and principled approach. According to the Chief Minister, Tripura lost a seasoned legislator who believed in dialogue and democratic conduct.

Biswa Bandhu Sen, a four-time MLA, passed away on December 26, 2025, at a private hospital in Bengaluru, where he had been undergoing treatment for several months. CM Saha said death is inevitable, but leaders like Sen live on through their service and values. He added that Sen’s work in public life left a deep imprint on the state.

Recalling personal associations, the Chief Minister said he first met Sen during their student days at Maharaja Bir Bikram College in 1971. He described Sen as dependable and approachable, especially during his tenure as MLA from Dharmanagar after joining the BJP in 2017.

CM Saha also said Biswa Bandhu Sen firmly opposed extremist ideologies and always worked to strengthen democratic institutions. He recalled their last meeting in August 2025, shortly before Sen suffered a brain haemorrhage that led to his prolonged hospitalisation.

Several senior leaders, ministers, former Assembly Speakers, and party workers attended the condolence meeting. They observed silence in memory of the departed leader.

The Biswa Bandhu Sen tribute concluded with CM Saha urging public representatives to follow Sen’s example of neutrality, ethical politics, and selfless service to society.
