Trump attacks Somali immigrants in a fiery speech during a rally in Pennsylvania, where he amplified his hardline immigration agenda. He criticised people arriving from Somalia and described the country as filthy, dirty and crime-ridden. He questioned why the United States does not admit more migrants from Nordic nations instead.
He also attacked Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a Somali-born refugee who settled in the United States as a child and became a citizen in 2000. He mocked her name, her clothing and her political work, and called her “garbage.” He repeated a long-debunked claim that she married her brother, even though no evidence supports it. The crowd responded by chanting, “Send her back.”
Trump then warned that America would decline if it continued accepting what he called “garbage” immigrants. His remarks followed earlier comments in which he admitted using the term “shithole countries” to describe African nations and Haiti during his first term.
His speech came as his administration expanded its immigration restrictions. Officials issued new guidance that flags “negative, country-specific factors” for migrants from 19 nations previously targeted in a travel ban. The updated policy further strengthens his pledge to pause migration from what he calls “Third World Countries.”
