US President Donald Trump called Charlie Kirk a “martyr for truth” after the conservative activist was shot dead at Utah Valley University. He blamed the radical left for spreading hate that led to the attack and promised a tough crackdown on political violence.
Trump said the left had long compared people like Kirk to Nazis and criminals. “Their rhetoric created terror in our country, and it must stop now,” he declared in a video posted on Truth Social. He described the murder as a “dark moment for America” and promised to go after everyone who funds or supports such violence.
The President urged citizens to defend free speech, law, and unity. “Charlie lived and died for these values,” Trump said. “His voice has become louder than ever, and his memory will guide us forward.”
Charlie Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA and worked closely with Trump to win young voters. On Wednesday, a single bullet struck him while he addressed a large crowd at the university. Investigators said the shooter fired from a rooftop and escaped. Police are searching for the suspect as Americans mourn another political killing.
