Former U.S. President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, describing the attack as a “dark moment for America.” Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, in what authorities are calling a “targeted political attack.”
Speaking at a rally following the incident, Trump directly blamed the “radical left” for creating an atmosphere of hostility that he believes encouraged the killing. “When people on the left compare patriots like Charlie to Nazis or criminals, they set the stage for political violence,” Trump said, adding that Kirk should be remembered as a “martyr for truth and freedom.”
The former president vowed that, if elected again, his administration would take decisive action against those responsible. “We will track down each and every individual and organization that contributed to this atrocity,” Trump declared. “This kind of political terrorism will never be tolerated in our country.”
Law enforcement officials are conducting an active manhunt for the suspected gunman, but no arrests or motives have yet been confirmed publicly. While Trump placed responsibility on left-wing rhetoric, investigators have not released evidence connecting the shooting to any political group.
Kirk, 31, was a prominent conservative voice known for his activism on college campuses and frequent media appearances. His death has sparked widespread outrage and renewed concerns about the rise of politically motivated violence in the United States.
