Trump China Strategy Shift Triggers Global Realignment, Says Expert

China

Trump China Strategy Shift is forcing Beijing to rethink its global posture, said Parag Khanna, CEO of AlphaGeo. He spoke with NDTV Editor-in-Chief Rahul Kanwal. He said Trump’s leadership looks chaotic. However, it drives deeper strategic changes.

Moreover, Khanna said NATO and US cooperation now targets Chinese and Russian activity in the Arctic. This focus weakens China’s naval and submarine reach. Therefore, he called the shift a setback for Beijing.

He also downplayed Greenland’s mineral value. Instead, he highlighted a broader effort called “mine to magnet.” This plan secures supply chains from raw minerals to finished products.

Meanwhile, the US is reducing reliance on China. Key sectors include semiconductors, batteries, rare earths, electric vehicles, and medical equipment. In addition, Washington is building partnerships with India, Singapore, the UAE, Canada, and European states.

Furthermore, Khanna said a new multilateral system is emerging. It focuses on security and strategic trade. He said countries now prefer flexible coalitions over global institutions.

Looking ahead, he predicted stronger regional blocs. He also expects more aligned partnerships by 2030. These networks, he said, will reshape global trade and geopolitics.
