US President Donald Trump claimed that he solved the India-Pakistan conflict earlier this year through trade and said he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for “ending seven wars.”
Speaking at the American Cornerstone Institute Founder’s Dinner, Trump said, “On the world stage, we are respected like never before. We are forging peace agreements and stopping wars.” He listed countries including India and Pakistan, Thailand and Cambodia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Rwanda and the Congo.
Trump explained that trade played a key role. “Think of India and Pakistan. I stopped that with trade. They wanted to trade. I have great respect for both leaders. Sixty percent of these wars were stopped because of trade,” he said.
He also mentioned that he should get the Nobel Prize for stopping conflicts. “If I can stop Russia and Ukraine, that’s one Nobel. But I stopped seven wars, so I deserve recognition,” Trump added.
He admitted that resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict would not be easy. “I thought it would be simple because of my relationship with President Putin, but we’ll get it done one way or another,” he said.
