Former President Donald Trump is calling for an investigation after a series of technical problems disrupted his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday. He described the incidents as a “triple sabotage,” citing a stopped escalator, a teleprompter failure, and audio issues.

Trump shared his concerns on social media, saying the escalator halted as he and First Lady Melania were stepping on it, and the teleprompter initially did not work. He also claimed that the sound in the auditorium was “completely off,” making it hard for world leaders to hear his speech without interpreters’ earpieces.

The UN said a built-in safety mechanism caused the escalator to stop, possibly triggered by a videographer from the US delegation. Both the UN and White House dispute responsibility for the teleprompter issue.

Trump plans to send a letter to UN leadership demanding an immediate investigation and the preservation of security footage. The US Secret Service and Ambassador Mike Waltz are involved, requesting full details on the escalator, teleprompter, and language interpretation problems.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also called for accountability, sharing a report that UN staff joked about turning off escalators for Trump’s arrival. Trump insists the incidents were deliberate and called the UN “ashamed of themselves.”
