President Donald Trump has dismissed concerns about the bandages on the back of his right hand. The White House said the marks result from frequent handshakes and his daily aspirin regimen. Spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said Trump shakes hands with thousands of people each week. She added that aspirin can cause easy bruising.
Leavitt repeated an earlier explanation given when Trump appeared with a bruise covered by makeup. She said the president remains active and healthy. Trump, now 79, often highlights his personal fitness and compares it with his predecessor Joe Biden. He argues that Biden struggled with mental clarity by the end of his term.
Trump defended his health again on Tuesday with a long post on Truth Social. He claimed that media inquiries into his medical condition amount to attempts to undermine him. He described the investigations as “sedition” and “maybe even treason.”
Trump underwent a medical exam in October, including an MRI scan. His doctor said he is in excellent health. The administration maintains that the bandages are a minor issue linked to routine activity rather than a medical problem.
