Trump India Pakistan ceasefire claim resurfaces after White House victory statement

Trump

US President Donald Trump repeated his claim of stopping a possible nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan. He spoke during a White House briefing that marked one year of his second term. Trump said Washington helped end heavy fighting after Operation Sindoor in May last year. He claimed both sides stood close to nuclear escalation.

Trump told reporters that several aircraft were shot down during the standoff. He added that Pakistan’s prime minister praised his role during a visit to Washington. The White House later highlighted this claim in a statement on the administration’s first-year achievements. The statement described the ceasefire as a major foreign policy success.

India has rejected the claim. New Delhi said no third party mediated the ceasefire. Officials stated that both sides reached the agreement through direct talks. India said the de-escalation followed Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan. The operation came after the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.

Trump has repeated the ceasefire claim several times since May. He has also linked it to his campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize. India continues to maintain that bilateral dialogue ended the conflict.
