Trump Supports Foreign Students to Keep US Colleges Alive

Trump Supports Foreign Students

In a surprising shift from his earlier immigration stance, US President Donald Trump has voiced strong support for foreign students studying in America. Speaking to Fox News, Trump said international students are essential for the country’s education system and economy.

He warned that cutting foreign admissions, especially from China, could force half of America’s colleges to close. “You don’t want to destroy our entire university system. I don’t want to do that,” Trump told host Laura Ingraham.

Trump explained that foreign students bring significant revenue since they pay higher tuition fees than local students. “We take in trillions from them. They pay more than double. I view it as a business,” he said.

The remarks mark a clear U-turn from his administration’s recent immigration policies, which tightened visa rules and targeted universities like Harvard and Stanford. His government has also revoked thousands of visas and imposed stricter checks on student applicants.

Despite these actions, Trump now insists that welcoming international students will help American universities thrive and strengthen ties with the world.
