Trump’s Top Policies: Americans React

Eight months into his second term, US President Donald Trump faces mixed reviews from Americans. A survey by The Washington Post and Ipsos found that 53% of people disapprove of his actions, while 41% support him.

Among his supporters, Trump’s immigration crackdown stands out. About 55% say it is the most positive part of his presidency. Other policies, like federal agency cuts (7%), foreign policy (5%), his presidential style (5%), and tariffs on trading partners (4%), received far less praise. Around 25% mentioned other issues with even lower support.

Even critics focused on immigration but disapproved less strongly—only 20% disagreed with his approach. Favorability for deportations and visa policy has risen from 39% in February to 55% now. Support for government cuts dropped sharply from 30% to 7% after Elon Musk left the Department of Government Efficiency.

Critics were divided on other issues. Thirteen percent disliked his handling of tariffs, 9% blamed him for harming democracy, and another 9% saw no merit in his actions. About 7% were disappointed by his personal conduct, including the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Overall, Americans remain split on Trump’s presidency, with immigration policy as the most talked-about issue.
