TTD Warns of Strict Action Against Fake Booking Scams

TTD warning about fake accommodation booking scams targeting devotees at Tirumala

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officials have issued a stern warning against fraudsters targeting devotees. The warning follows a complaint by a devotee, Urvashi, who was recently scammed while seeking accommodation services.

According to TTD officials, there has been an increase in fraudulent websites claiming to provide TTD services. They urged devotees to be cautious and avoid interacting with suspicious individuals or middlemen. The TTD has set up a helpline (0877 – 2263828 5) for devotees to report such frauds.

In the complaint, Urvashi explained how she was duped after searching for accommodation options via Google. She contacted a number listed on a fake website, “Srinivasan Rest Houses,” and spoke with a person named Abhimanyu. He claimed to be from the reception of Srinivasan Complex and promised accommodation for a fee. After paying, the fraudster stopped responding to calls and messages, leaving Urvashi stranded.

Upon realizing she had been scammed, Urvashi reported the incident to the police and contacted the 1930 crime helpline. TTD officials advised devotees to report such fraudsters immediately to help prevent future scams.
