Turncoat MLAs Face Tough Times After Losing Party Tickets

Bihar Elections 2025

In the Bihar Elections 2025, four MLAs who switched parties have been sidelined. Once seen as political survivors, they now face uncertain futures after losing their tickets.

Former RJD veteran Prahlad Yadav of Suryagarha, a five-time MLA, joined the NDA during Nitish Kumar’s floor test but failed to secure a ticket. Despite support from BJP leader Vijay Kumar Sinha, Union Minister Lallan Singh blocked his nomination. After personal and political losses, Prahlad has stayed silent this election.

Three former AIMIM MLAsRuknuddin Ahmed, Anzar Naeemi, and Izhar Asfi—who defected to RJD were also denied tickets. Some now campaign for rivals. Asfi’s son, Imtiaz Asfi, openly supports Owaisi’s AIMIM against RJD in Kochadhaman.

Meanwhile, Shahnawaz Alam retained his RJD ticket from Jokihat, reigniting rivalry with his brother Sarfaraz Alam, now with Jan Suraj Party.

Others like Chetan Anand and Neelam Devi managed new tickets from different seats, while Congress turncoats Siddharth Saurav and Murari Gautam found space in the BJP and LJP-R respectively.

Political loyalty, it seems, has become Bihar’s costliest gamble.
