Two-day PESA Mahotsav to Be Held in Visakhapatnam on December 23–24
A two-day PESA Mahotsav will be organised in Visakhapatnam on December 23 and 24 to highlight the importance of the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA). The event is planned as a national platform to celebrate the rich cultural, social, and traditional heritage of tribal communities living in PESA regions across the country.
The Mahotsav will bring together tribal representatives, policymakers, administrators, and experts to discuss the effective implementation of the PESA Act and the empowerment of Gram Sabhas in Scheduled Areas. Cultural programmes, exhibitions, and traditional performances by tribal communities will be key attractions, showcasing their unique customs, art forms, and way of life.
The event also aims to create awareness about tribal rights, self-governance, and sustainable development in Scheduled Areas. By hosting the PESA Mahotsav, Visakhapatnam is expected to emerge as an important centre for dialogue and cultural exchange related to tribal welfare and governance.
