In Katihar, Bihar, a tragic road accident claimed the lives of two labourers preparing for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s programme. The labourers were working near Vishhari Sthan on NH-31 when a speeding Scorpio crushed them early Friday morning. Both men died on the spot.
Reports say around 40 workers were preparing for the CM’s event in Sameli, putting up bamboo fencing along the highway. Suddenly, a Scorpio from Kursela ran over two workers and fled toward Dumra. The driver escaped immediately after the accident.
The incident sparked anger among villagers and co-workers. People blocked NH-31 with tractors and bamboo poles for nearly two hours, demanding justice and compensation. Police officers, including Kursela CO and Sameli CO, reached the spot and convinced the crowd to lift the blockade.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem, and police have launched a search for the absconding driver. The deceased were reportedly residents of Katihar and Hajipur. The accident occurred around 4 am.
