US Military Buildup Near Iran as Nuclear Talks Advance

Tensions are rising as the US military buildup near Iran accelerates, even while nuclear talks show cautious progress. Over 50 US fighter jets, including F-35s, F-22s, and F-16s, moved to West Asia within 24 hours, according to Axios.

The deployment follows talks in Geneva between Washington and Tehran. US officials said both sides made progress but admitted many details remain unresolved. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the discussions as more constructive than earlier talks in Muscat. He said both countries agreed on guiding principles for a possible nuclear deal.

Meanwhile, Washington has expanded its military presence across the region. The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln entered the Arabian Sea in late January. Additional assets, including F-15 jets, MQ-9 Reaper drones, and A-10C aircraft, arrived in Jordan. Surveillance aircraft and naval destroyers are also operating near the Gulf.

Iran has responded with military drills in the Strait of Hormuz. Officials warned they could close the vital oil transit route if tensions escalate.

If negotiations succeed, Iran could receive sanctions relief in exchange for strict nuclear limits. However, rising military activity keeps the risk of confrontation alive.
