Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that the Trump administration will revoke visas of immigrants who glorify political killings, including the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, NDTV reported.
Rubio told Fox News that the US should not welcome people who celebrate murder or violence. “If they are already here, we should revoke their visa,” he said. “It makes no sense to bring in people who spread destructive behaviour.”
The State Department reinforced his stance. Deputy Secretary Chris Landau posted on X, condemning foreigners who praised or mocked Kirk’s killing. “They are not welcome visitors to our country,” he said, urging the public to report such comments so officials can act.
Earlier this year, the Trump administration made social media accounts mandatory for visa applicants and insisted they remain public. Since January, authorities have revoked more than 6,000 student visas for offences ranging from minor crimes to suspected support for terrorism.
Charlie Kirk, a right-wing activist, was fatally shot during a debate at Utah Valley University. Police arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson within 33 hours after relatives recognized him from photos released by investigators. Officials expect formal charges on Tuesday.
