YSRCP MLC and Women’s Wing President Varudu Kalyani strongly criticized the coalition government led by Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, accusing it of neglecting justice in the Sugali Preethi case. Speaking in Kurnool on Monday, she alleged that while legal justice was ensured under former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Pawan Kalyan politically exploited the case before the 2024 elections.
Kalyani recalled that in August 2017, during Chandrababu Naidu’s rule, tribal girl Sugali Preethi was raped and murdered, and her family struggled for years to seek justice. She accused the current government of sidelining the case and focusing instead on high-profile matters, such as Mumbai actress Kadambari Jathwani’s case.
Demanding immediate government action, she urged for fair investigations and suggested that the case be handed to the CBI if required. She also accused opposition MLAs of harassing the victim’s family and called for stronger accountability and women’s safety measures.
