Vehicle Owners No Longer Required to Visit RTO for Registration

In a major move to simplify vehicle registration, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that vehicle owners will no longer need to physically take their vehicles to RTO offices for inspection. The new stipulation applies to all new vehicle registrations, aiming to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and streamline the process.
Under the revised procedure, vehicle buyers can complete registration formalities online or through authorised dealerships, which will coordinate with the RTA for verification. Officials said the measure will save time for vehicle owners, reduce congestion at RTO offices, and improve overall efficiency in the transport department.
Authorities stressed that all other registration requirements, including submission of documents, payment of fees, and issuance of registration numbers, will remain unchanged. The initiative is part of broader digital reforms by the transport department to make government services more accessible and citizen-friendly, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards for motor vehicles.
