Telugu Language Day was celebrated with enthusiasm across both Telugu states. Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu greeted Telugu people on X (Twitter) and highlighted the need to protect the mother tongue.
He said UNESCO and other global bodies emphasize that saving native languages protects cultural and biological diversity. He reminded people that Telugu traditions, festivals, and arts can survive only when the language is preserved.
Naidu stressed that respecting Telugu does not mean avoiding other languages. “Learn as many as you want, but never neglect your mother tongue,” he said. Research shows that those who master their native tongue can more easily learn other languages.
He urged governments to conduct administration in Telugu and issue orders in the language. He appealed to Telugu speakers to use it at home, in schools, temples, and public places. “Only by speaking Telugu daily can we keep it alive,” he said.
