Venu Srinivasan Halts New Inductions in Sir Ratan Tata Trust
Chairman Venu Srinivasan has put on hold the induction of new trustees into the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, citing procedural concerns. According to sources, Srinivasan objected to the appointments of Neville and Bhat being listed under the agenda item “any other business,” arguing that such significant decisions require prior notice and proper discussion. The move reflects growing tensions within one of India’s oldest and most influential philanthropic organisations. Srinivasan reportedly emphasised that governance norms and transparency must be upheld to maintain the trust’s credibility and legacy. The Sir Ratan Tata Trust, a key arm of the Tata philanthropic institutions, funds a wide range of social, health, and education initiatives across India. The matter is expected to be reviewed at the next board meeting, with stakeholders seeking to resolve differences amicably.
