Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay began his political tour in Trichy today, marking his first major step toward the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. As part of this opening leg, Vijay will also meet supporters in Ariyalur and Perambalur districts.
The Vijay political tour in Trichy will run until December 2025, but in a unique format — only on weekends, mostly Saturdays. A senior TVK strategist said the idea was to avoid hardship for the public. “Saturday is a holiday for most, so people won’t lose their daily wages to attend,” he explained.
Vijay is also banking on his huge digital reach to multiply his campaign’s impact. His recent speech garnered over 4 crore views on YouTube, far surpassing the online presence of current leaders. The campaign will cover all 38 districts instead of 234 constituencies, with the team stressing that Vijay does not want to paralyse public life.
Ahead of the tour, TVK unveiled a new logo featuring Vijay over a Tamil Nadu map with the tagline “Your Vijay, I Am Coming.” The campaign echoes the historic 1967 and 1977 waves that brought Annadurai and MGR to power. Vijay hopes to recreate that political momentum in 2026.
