Violent Clash Erupts at New York Costco

violent clash at Costco

A violent fight broke out at Sunset Park Costco in New York on Sunday afternoon, leaving one man injured. The clash started when two couples argued over a shopping cart in an aisle and quickly turned physical.

The incident happened around 3:50 p.m. inside the store on Third Avenue near 37th Street. Dramatic footage shows one man punching his rival and shoving a woman aside as she shouted, “Do not touch him! Do not push him!” The 42-year-old victim fell to the ground and hit his head on a shopping cart.

His companion yelled, “Call the police!” in both English and Spanish. Emergency responders took the injured man to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn for treatment, while the attacker ran away.

Other shoppers blamed the store’s crowded conditions for adding tension. Yizhou Jiang said, “There’s a lot of tension here, from the parking lot to inside. It seems like there’s limited space and limited resources, which is ironic.”

Gary Mirabelle added, “I see the frustration on people’s faces when they shop. It’s tough to come here—you want to get in and get out.

The incident highlights how crowded shopping spaces can sometimes turn routine errands into dangerous confrontations.
