Over 800 people were found suffering from viral fever in Fazilka flood-affected villages during a week-long survey by the Health Department and ASHAs. The survey started on September 14 after floodwaters receded across Punjab.
According to official data, ASHAs surveyed 34,095 houses in 111 villages and examined 17,784 patients at medical camps. Out of these, 809 were confirmed to have viral fever. Doctors assured that the cases were mild to moderate and under control.
The department also distributed 17,182 medicine kits for treating common illnesses at home. Civil Surgeon Dr. Rohit Goyal stated that no cases of malaria or dengue were detected in the flood-hit areas, which came as a relief to health officials and residents.
This special drive was part of the state’s effort to prevent the outbreak of waterborne and vector-borne diseases after floods. Health teams are continuing monitoring to ensure the situation remains safe.
