The land acquisition process for the proposed Warangal Mamnoor Airport has gained momentum. As part of the initiative, compensation has been deposited directly into farmers’ bank accounts. Officials confirmed that ₹34 crore has been credited to 48 farmers, offering ₹1.20 crore per acre for agricultural lands.
The government has earmarked ₹205 crore for the entire acquisition process, covering a total of 253 acres needed for the airport project. This development is seen as a major step toward realizing Warangal’s long-pending dream of having a functional airport, expected to boost connectivity and regional growth.
However, disputes remain regarding compensation for non-agricultural land. While the government has offered up to ₹4,000 per square yard for open plots, local landowners have expressed dissatisfaction. They are demanding at least ₹12,000 per square yard, arguing that the current offer undervalues their property.
Talks between officials and landowners are ongoing, and authorities hope to resolve the issue soon to avoid delays. Once completed, the Warangal airport project is expected to enhance trade, tourism, and business opportunities in North Telangana, making the city a regional hub.
