In West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir is scheduled to lay the foundation of a Babri-style mosque in Beldanga on Saturday as per his earlier announcement. Kabir confirmed on Friday that the program will proceed as planned, and preparations in the Maradighi area continued late into the evening. The Calcutta High Court declined to intervene in the matter on Friday, following which the local administration intensified its alertness.
Sources indicate that nearly 40,000 people may attend the ceremony, with Islamic clerics expected from Saudi Arabia and various parts of India. Kabir has claimed that the crowd near Maradighi Mor could swell to nearly three lakh. To maintain law and order, around 3,000 police personnel have been deployed throughout the area.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Governor Dr. CV Ananda Bose has urged citizens across the state to remain calm, vigilant, and uphold communal harmony. He appealed to the public not to fall prey to provocative statements or rumours and assured that he is personally monitoring the situation.
