West Bengal SIR Voter List 2025: How to Check and Restore Your Name

Voters checking their names on the West Bengal SIR voter list

The Election Commission of India (ECI), through the Chief Electoral Office (CEO), West Bengal, has launched the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. As of November 11, more than 6.56 crore enumeration forms–around 85% of the total–have been distributed across the state. The process ensures the voter list is accurate and updated, with the final electoral roll scheduled for February 7, 2026.

Eligible voters must be Indian citizens, at least 18 years old as of January 1, 2026, and permanent residents of their constituency. Names may be excluded if a voter has relocated, lacks valid documents, or was mistakenly included earlier. Senior officials clarify that this exercise is constitutional and mandatory, not discretionary, and is carried out under Article 324 of the Indian Constitution.

Voters can verify their registration status by contacting their Booth Level Officer (BLO) or online through:

Search options include EPIC number, personal details, and mobile number (if linked to the voter ID). Assistance is also available via the ECI toll-free number 1950.

If your name is excluded, there is no need to panic. Citizens can appeal to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), then to the District Election Officer (DEO), and finally to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). During the claims and objections period, new voters can register, and existing voters can request corrections before the final voter list is published.

Timely verification and appeals ensure that every eligible citizen retains the right to vote in upcoming elections. With proper attention, no one misses their chance to participate in the democratic process.
