Why Rahul Gandhi Stayed Away from the Bihar Elections

Rahul Gandhi Bihar elections campaign discussion

As the Bihar Assembly elections approach, many wonder why Rahul Gandhi Bihar elections involvement has been limited. He last visited the state on September 1st after completing his “Voter Rights Yatra” in Patna. Since then, he has avoided Bihar’s political stage, creating confusion among Congress workers.

Congress candidates have asked the high command and Rahul Gandhi’s office to campaign in their areas. Sources reveal that his absence delayed clarity within the Grand Alliance. However, after recent talks, Rahul Gandhi Bihar elections campaign may begin next week once internal matters are resolved.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was sent to Bihar to settle disputes. He met RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and later declared Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial face of the “India” alliance. The alliance also announced Mukesh Sahni as deputy CM, promising representation for other social groups.

Despite these efforts, critics claim the alliance overlooked Muslim representation, which makes up nearly 17% of Bihar’s population. Congress now faces the challenge of balancing alliances and communities as campaigning intensifies.
