Sanjay Saraogi becomes Bihar BJP president, marking an important shift in the party’s state leadership. The announcement came after Nitin Naveen was elevated as National Executive President of the BJP.
Sanjay Saraogi becomes Bihar BJP president by replacing Dilip Jaiswal, who has taken charge as the state’s Industry Minister. The BJP follows a strict “one person, one post” rule, which led to this transition.
Saraogi is a six-time MLA from Darbhanga and a senior leader in the party. He has earlier served as a minister in the Nitish Kumar government. He also handled key portfolios like Land Reforms and Revenue.
In the 2025 Assembly elections, Saraogi won from Darbhanga again. However, he was not included in the cabinet. Many within the party expected him to receive a bigger organisational role.
His political journey began in 2005, and he has won multiple elections with strong margins. Over the years, he has defeated candidates from RJD and the Grand Alliance.
With this appointment, the BJP has once again handed over Bihar leadership to a Vaishya leader. The decision takes effect immediately and signals a new phase for the party in the state.
