Indian women’s cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues congratulated all 16 players selected for the first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup – Cricket for the Blind. Scheduled in India from November 11 to 25, this historic tournament marks a significant milestone for women’s blind cricket.
Jemimah, who has played 112 T20Is for India, expressed pride in India hosting the inaugural event. She said the players would make the nation proud by competing at the highest level and lifting the trophy.
The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) announced the squad earlier this month and has begun preparations for the tournament. CABI Chairman Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar recently met President Droupadi Murmu to present details of the event, accompanied by Meenakashi Lekhi, Organising Committee Chairperson.
The Women’s T20 World Cup – Cricket for the Blind will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with matches in New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Colombo. Teams from Australia, England, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the USA will compete in 21 league matches, two semi-finals, and the final. The event follows India’s golden win at the 2023 IBSA World Games, where the Indian team defeated Australia.
