Authorities deployed over 680 police personnel in Connaught Place alone. Nearly 20,000 officers remained on duty across the capital. Police focused on preventing drunk driving, reckless stunts, and law-and-order issues.
Bengaluru witnessed vibrant scenes as crowds gathered along MG Road and Brigade Road. Fireworks and street celebrations created a festive atmosphere as residents ushered in 2026.
In Kashmir, locals and tourists celebrated the New Year amid winter charm. Popular destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg saw heavy footfall as visitors enjoyed fresh snowfall. Celebrations also took place near the historic Clock Tower at Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
