YSRCP stages protests in NTR district against medical colleges privatisation
The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) organised rallies across NTR district on Monday opposing the State government’s move to privatise government medical colleges. Party leaders and cadres staged demonstrations at mandal and constituency levels, alleging that privatisation would make medical education unaffordable for students from poor and middle-class families.
Addressing the gathering, YSRCP NTR district president said that a total of 4,21,217 people from the district had signed petitions opposing the proposed privatisation. He stated that the signatures reflected widespread public concern and resistance to what he described as the government’s “anti-student” policy.
YSRCP leaders accused the government of weakening the public healthcare and education system by handing over medical colleges built with public funds to private entities. They demanded that the government withdraw the proposal immediately and ensure that medical education remains accessible and affordable.
The party announced that the petition copies would be submitted to the Governor and senior officials as part of its ongoing agitation.
