₹10,000 Scheme Glitch in Bihar: Money Sent to Men, Now a Tough Question for the State

₹10,000 scheme glitch in Bihar affecting poor families in Darbhanga

Before the Bihar Assembly elections, ₹10,000 scheme glitch in Bihar surfaced during a major welfare drive. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched a scheme to support Jeevika Didis under the Women’s Employment Scheme. The government sent ₹10,000 each to more than 1.25 crore women across the state.

However, the ₹10,000 scheme glitch in Bihar led to an unexpected problem in Darbhanga district. Due to a technical error, ₹10,000 each was credited to the bank accounts of two men in Jale block.

The men were identified as Nagendra Ram and Balram Sahni from Ahiyari Dakshin Panchayat. Officials from the Jeevika project later sent them notices. They were asked to return the money and share proof of repayment with the BPIU office.

Both men told officials they belong to very poor Mahadalit families. They live in huts built on government land. The money was used to clear old debts. They now say they have no funds left to return.

Jeevika BPM Devdutt Jha confirmed that the transfer happened due to a clerical mistake. Officials have not yet clarified what action will be taken next.
