₹988 crore released to Andhra under MGNREGA to boost rural wages
Funds amounting to ₹988 crore have been released to Andhra under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), said Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar on Monday. The move aims to ensure timely wage payments and strengthen livelihood security for rural workers.
Mr. Chandra Sekhar said the funds will support ongoing and upcoming MGNREGA projects across villages in the State. This includes initiatives related to water conservation, rural infrastructure development, and natural resource management.
He emphasized that the release of ₹988 crore would help sustain employment for daily wage workers, particularly in remote and drought-prone areas. Officials said that prompt fund disbursal is critical to maintaining trust in the MGNREGA scheme and improving rural incomes.
The MGNREGA programme continues to play a vital role in empowering rural communities and reducing economic vulnerability. Authorities have assured strict monitoring to ensure funds are used efficiently and reach the intended beneficiaries.
