15 percent quota within women reservation has again sparked political discussion after Lalu Prasad Yadav shared an old video of his speech on social media. In the video, the RJD chief reiterates his demand for a separate quota for women from disadvantaged communities.
Yadav said he has no objection to the Women’s Reservation Bill if 15 percent quota within women reservation is provided to women from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and minority communities. He argued that poor and marginalized women should receive fair political representation.
The video appears to show a speech from Parliament where he raised the issue of participation for backward and minority women. According to him, ensuring representation for these groups will make the reservation policy more inclusive.
Yadav also said that if the government truly supports women’s empowerment, it should guarantee participation for disadvantaged women in legislative bodies. He stressed that many women from weaker sections still lack proper representation in politics.
The video has revived debate around the demand for “quota within quota” in the women’s reservation policy.
