Pak Handlers Used Smuggled Indian SIMs to Contact 75 Army Personnel

A major espionage network was uncovered after the arrest of Prabhat Kumar Chaurasiya, a Nepali national, from Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar on August 28. Investigations revealed that Pakistan-based handlers used at least 16 Indian SIM cards, smuggled with Chaurasiya’s help, to contact around 75 Indian Army personnel.
The SIM cards were fraudulently obtained using Aadhaar-based verification and sent to Nepal, from where they were routed to Pakistan. These cards were then activated on messaging apps like WhatsApp and used from locations such as Lahore and Bahawalpur to extract sensitive information from defence officials.
Authorities recovered digital devices and SIM packaging during the raid, confirming the scale of the operation. The case has raised serious national security concerns, especially due to the targeted communication with individuals in sensitive military and defence positions. Law enforcement agencies are now investigating the broader network and its potential links to foreign intelligence operations.
