Security forces in Manipur’s Imphal East district successfully neutralised 27 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during a coordinated operation on Monday. Officials said the operation prevented potential attacks and ensured the safety of nearby villages and highways.
According to the Manipur Police, the explosives were discovered following intelligence inputs regarding suspicious activity in the area. A bomb disposal squad was immediately deployed to assess and neutralise the devices. The entire operation was conducted under strict safety protocols to avoid casualties.
“The team worked meticulously to dismantle all the IEDs,” a senior police official said. “This operation highlights the constant vigilance of our security forces in maintaining peace and protecting citizens.”
Local authorities confirmed that the explosives were scattered across multiple locations in Imphal East, and the operation involved close coordination between the police, army, and local security units. No injuries were reported during the neutralisation process.
Officials suspect that insurgent groups were behind the placement of these bombs, targeting key routes in the district. Security agencies are now investigating the source of the explosives and tracking down those responsible.
Residents expressed relief at the swift action of the security forces. “We are thankful to the police and army for preventing a disaster. Their quick response has kept our villages safe,” said a local villager.
