A tragic incident unfolded in north Jerusalem on Monday when Palestinian attackers opened fire at a crowded bus stop. The gunmen killed six people and injured twelve others before being shot dead by security forces.
Police said the attackers targeted commuters waiting during the morning rush hour. An Israeli soldier and a civilian present at the scene quickly responded, shooting and killing the assailants.
The attack took place at a busy intersection near the northern entrance to Jerusalem, an area that connects to Jewish settlements in East Jerusalem. The scene turned chaotic as buses riddled with bullets stood nearby, shattered glass scattered across the street, and paramedics rushed to assist the wounded.
Footage showed people fleeing in panic, while emergency teams transported victims to local hospitals. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reached the site within hours and warned that Israel faces “war on multiple fronts,” including Gaza and the West Bank.
The war in Gaza has already triggered rising violence across Israel and the West Bank. Monday’s shooting marked another deadly episode in this escalating conflict.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “heinous act of terror” and extending condolences to the families of the victims.
