The nation is celebrating Teacher’s Day 2025 today, marking the birth anniversary of former President and renowned philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. On this occasion, the government has announced that 66 teachers from across India will be honored with National Awards for their outstanding contribution to the field of education.
The award ceremony will take place in New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu will present medals and certificates to the selected teachers. Each award also carries a cash prize.
According to the Ministry of Education, the teachers were chosen after a rigorous selection process, recognizing their innovative teaching methods, dedication to students, and efforts to uplift the education system in both rural and urban areas.
The government said the awards reflect the nation’s gratitude towards teachers who not only impart academic knowledge but also instill moral values and life skills in their students.
Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year across schools and institutions with cultural events, plays, debates, and activities where students pay tribute to their teachers. This year, social media has also been flooded with tributes and stories shared under hashtags celebrating the role of educators.
Officials said the recognition of 66 teachers highlights the government’s commitment to improving education standards and honoring those who inspire excellence in classrooms.
As the nation marks Teacher’s Day, the ceremony stands as a reminder of Dr. Radhakrishnan’s words that “teachers should be the best minds in the country.”
