Haryana BJP leader Anil Vij recently sparked political speculation after removing the term “Minister” from his profile on X (formerly Twitter). This move caught the attention of his followers and party members, leading many to wonder about its implications.
Vij, a veteran leader with over 7 terms as an MLA, clarified that the change was a personal decision. He explained that he wanted to build his online presence based on his identity as Anil Vij, not just as a government official. Vij pointed out that he has been active on social media long before his role as a minister and that the adjustment to his profile was a way of emphasizing his personal brand.
This decision comes at a time of rising tensions within the Haryana BJP. Vij has been vocal about the existence of a “parallel” BJP unit in his constituency of Ambala Cantonment, claiming that party leadership has sidelined him. His public remarks drew criticism and led to a show-cause notice from the BJP, questioning his comments about party leadership.
While some believe that the removal of the “Minister” title reflects his decreasing influence within the party, Vij maintains that the change is unrelated to his political standing. He insists it is simply a move to personalize his online identity.
Despite the speculation, Vij continues to assert that the shift is about his presence on social media and does not reflect any deeper political shift or discontent with his role in the Haryana government.
