Bihar’s Development Shift: Will It Move to Fifth Gear or Reverse?

Bihar development shift, Sanjay Jha statement, Nitish Kumar progress, Bihar elections 2025

As Bihar heads into the 2025 elections, the debate over the state’s progress has intensified. JDU Working President Sanjay Jha recently said that Bihar’s development is currently “in fourth gear.” Taking a swipe at RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, he remarked that voters will decide whether Bihar’s development shift will move into fifth gear or reverse.

Jha reminded people of the 15 years of Lalu’s rule, when Bihar lagged behind while other states advanced. He alleged that instead of industries, the kidnapping industry thrived. In contrast, he praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s two-decade leadership, claiming it transformed Bihar with better roads, education, and law and order.

Nitish Kumar’s next plan focuses on creating industries in every district, providing self-employment to two crore women, and generating one crore government or private jobs. The NDA at the Centre has promised full support to these goals.

Voting will take place on November 6 and 11, with results on November 14. JDU is under pressure to perform better than in 2020, when it won just 43 of 115 seats. This election will decide whether Bihar’s growth accelerates or slips back.
