Former MP and Mokama leader Suraj Bhan Singh joins RJD along with his wife and brother, marking a big shift in Bihar politics. Tejashwi Yadav will welcome Suraj Bhan, his wife and ex-MP Veena Devi, and brother Chandan Singh into the Rashtriya Janata Dal on Saturday.
Suraj Bhan Singh, a strong leader from Mokama, was earlier with the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). His political journey began in 2000 when he became an independent MLA by defeating Anant Singh’s brother. Later, he became an MP from Ballia and made his family members MPs too.
After differences with Chirag Paswan and BJP sidelining Paras, the Suraj Bhan family faced a political dilemma. Choosing Tejashwi’s RJD over RLSP, Suraj Bhan Singh joins RJD to stay active in politics. This move strengthens Tejashwi’s A-Z strategy to widen RJD’s support among Bhumihar and Kushwaha voters.
